After landing a spot in our Focus Five segment a few months back, Milano continued to impress us with the wild release ‘Slither’ and it seems he’s only getting started. Today the sound design wizard is back with yet another mind-rattling release entitled ‘Pucker Fish’. “The title is kinda random, I was sitting in the kitchen working on the project file and the lead chain was named ‘BASS SUCC,’ so I thought of an animal that succs and the first one that came to mind was a pucker fish,” Milano tells us.
As we’ve come to expect from Milano, ‘Pucker Fish’ is as crazy as it is unique. As the track ramps up it takes listeners deeper and darker into the ocean. When the drop hits you’re transported into an underwater world that’s equal parts trippy and enthralling. Each few bars takes you deeper into the scene, uncovering more unexpected and enthralling imagery as you dive into the abyss. Milano is becoming a master at conjuring up inventive scenes with each release but the magic is often improvisational or even, at times, accidental.
“I sit there for hours every day going through really really stupid sounds until something finally sparks. I know I’m not the only producer that says this but, my ideas are all accidents almost. I never go into a song with an idea. Unless it’s a fill or intro or something,” Milano says regarding his process. Don’t let the humble words fool you, he definitely knows what he’s doing.
