On a par with the Santana riff in DJ Khaled’s ‘Wild Thoughts’, ‘Do You’ is my favourite example of a guitar sample used in the most bizarre, unforeseen way. Thinking that something created by a Lebanese band has become one of the sexiest Trap anthems of all time, always blows my mind.
How, then, someone could just think to remix it, is an unfathomable mystery to me, but if you haven’t noticed yet, that crazy hothead Italian msft. has effectively took that challenge. Not only has he embraced it, but he managed to come up with a ridiculously glorious result. In less than 5 hours, he deconstructed the classic, dusted and rebuilt it, with smart updates and zero overturnings. Of course the two iconic samples are still there, but msft. has inhibited the sensuality with a generous injection of his trademark sound, full of giant subs, industrial sounds and galactic echoes. The outcome is perfect for the dancefloor in this this age of minimal and technically sophisticated trap music.
I’m saying it right here right now, keep both eyes on msft. cause, with the right push and support, he could be the next hot name in the scene.
