sfam bring the homies on ‘the fam bam’ EP

by Colin

Our favourite New Orleans based bass duo are back with a new EP! Aptly titled the fam bam, the project sees sfam collaborating with a different homie on each of the five tracks. First up is the Boogie T assisted ‘Out My Face’ which pairs an absurd vocal sample with some equally absurd wonkyness. ‘Push Gas’ sees sfam and DMVU slicing and dicing vocals before dropping them into a filthy bass stew that’s piping hot. Stripping things down comes the minimalistic massacre ‘What It Is’ with BOARCROK. ‘Wait For Em’ builds upon the previous track’s energy but somehow manages to take things even deeper, likely a result of Bawldy’s influence. Put simply, the track is some out of this world space bass. Capping off the project is their collab with the Lost Dog vide. ‘Roux’ pushes the barriers of sound design in the minimal space. It’s disgustingly engrossing without being overwhelming.

The fam bam EP is just what you’d expect to hear from sfam and their producer friends: a weird, wild ride that’s as trippy as the artwork would suggest. Press play and enjoy the trip.
