BTSM Releases ‘New Worlds’ Remix LP, Unleashes More Demonic Darkness

by Mekabeth

Earlier this year, Black Tiger Sex Machine released their sophomore album New Worlds. After the completion of their Ceremony Tour, the campaign of hard-electro bass can be celebrated with a fresh slaughter of remixes. Enlisting a few mercenaries, and drawing from their own ranks, BTSM showcases talent on and off their Kannibalen label with this fire remix LP.

Kompany remixes BTSM and Apashe’s ‘Replicants’ into one hell of a head banger. This fierce track was already a bass throbbing hit and retain’s its bite through Kompany’s metamorphosis. Creating steady, eerie pauses between thrashing drops of wubs and dubs, Kompany contrasts the light and dark aspects of the track’s original mix. This song has a creepy edge to it that Kompany teases apart creating space for him to fill plenty of dubstep elements that pay homage to heavy metal roots. His remix is like an opening of a pit in the audience; commanding chaos, and drumming up a frenzy of aggression.

Another reincarnation that stands out is Michael White’s remix of ‘War’. Originally crafted by the BTSM without any collaborators, this track was dramatic with its rapid tempo, roaring drops, and taser like snares. White’s take on ‘War’ has much of the same drama, but relinquishes the darker, deeper bass, unearthing the techno flavors hiding in the rhythm. Keeping with the same dramatic theme, White calms things in the middle and focuses on the melodic elements for a moment before returning to the high energy snares and bass.

‘Lions’ was a track we were happy to feature here on FUXWITHIT, and were also pleased to hear this remix come out as deadly as the original. Remix by Doctor P,  the spooky, operatic vocals open up an echoing cavern, the kind confused for a void, where on the savage bass that follows can fill. This is less of a re-imagination and more of a possession of the first track by a malevolent energy; there is just so much drama between the powerful snarls of snares, heady bashes of bass, and revered preservation of the innate creepiness. It’s hard to not be moved by the devilishness of this track, and resist relishing in its trickster sounds.

HVDES makes the ‘Beast’ purr. The first rendition was some what of a dark ravers dream as it is the perfect track to headbang and shake your booty to, while still being just a little bit goth. HVDES teases the tempo, but raises the heat as she drags you down into the cavernous bass. While keeping the bass big and blooming, she peppers in flirty snares which build into a thicker texture. As she moves through each section, touching on more veins of different melodic elements and pulling them into higher tones, she creates a high peak which rumbles as it drops into the final section of aggressive bass.
