Sorsari Brings You Into The Upside Down With ‘Patterns’ EP

by Alessio Anesi

Just a couple of days ago we celebrated the ‘Stranger Things Day’, but, to be honest, it’s still a long road to summer 2019. Eight more months are enough to kill the resistance of even the most hardcore fans, who are screaming for a new little glimpse of the Upside Down. Luckily for us Wave fans, Sorsari came to our aid with a much appreciated way out. His last magnificent EP Patterns, is an authentic secret passage into a mystical sci-fi world, where time, space, borders and boundaries are only empty terms.

Once entered into this realm and greeted by the opening ethereal overture ‘Dreamers’, a impenetrable mist full of haunting vocal manipulations and rising bubbles of syncopated synths will swallow you. Completely blinded, you’ll be carried off deep underground, where you’ll face ‘Monster,’ the climax of this EP, which is truly one of the finest pieces of Wave I’ve ever, ever heard. The adventure continues in a carefully laid-out wavescape, with the  outstanding title track ‘Pattern’, before proceeding in a kaleidoscopic way, drifting between techno and industrial elements, reverb-soaked vocal samples and infectious drum beats.

It’s not easy to come back to reality after experiencing Patterns, before the last note hits you’ll already miss Sorsari’s shaped ‘Upside Down,’ you feel nostalgia for that digital oblivion where getting lost is a pleasure and not a nuisance. This EP fully showcases the immense potential of Wave and it’s on the way to become an instant classic of the genre.
