After storming onto the scene with his Spelljam EP last year, SVDDEN DEATH has not looked back for a second. Since then, the LA-based producer has put out a multitude of gut-wrenching originals, collaborations and remixes that have seen him catapult from the underground scene to among the most respected dubstep artists. The Junkworld EP and VOYD Vol. 1 EP have been two of the most rinsed projects of the year, and for good reason. SVDDEN DEATH has given a new meaning to dubstep and riddim, pushing the genre to new heights with his unique sound design while always remaining ahead of the curve.
Although everybody would agree that SVDDEN DEATH has spoiled fans enough this year, fans are treated to more of his creative genius today. Following up on his heavy remix for Snails’ ‘Smack Up’, the hot streak continues with another forward-thinking remix for Marshmello and Bastille’s hit collaboration, ‘Happier’. Showing listeners a more melodic side to his madness, SVDDEN DEATH channels his inner genius once again, pairing Bastille’s original vocals with a tension-building soundscape in the introduction. Without sounding disjointed, he transforms the track into a fiery riddim masterpiece, with his earth-shattering synths and impeccable sound design shining once again. Who ever said riddim couldn’t be melodic?
If dubstep was in the Olympics this year, the gold medal would belong to SVDDEN DEATH. Check out his remix below!
