LICK Adds Darkness To Virtual Self’s ‘Angel Voices’

by Steph Contant

Best known for his REVOLT EP put out by Deadbeats earlier this year, LICK has also been active remixing electronic’s biggest names, infusing his staple sound in Illenium’s ‘Needed You’, Zed’s Dead & Jauz’s ‘Lights Go Down’ and Chuurch and Strange Future’s ‘Rabbit Hole’.

In parallel, Porter Robinson’s Virtual Self project has shined an exciting light on dance music and inspired an innumerable demographic of artists to explore new avenues of production. What began as ‘Ghost Voices’ has been reworked and transformed into the celestial ‘Angel Voices’, where Porter Robinson unveiled two key concepts of the Virtual Self story. Let’s face it though, no Porter Robinson track is complete without an accompanying “Dark Edit,” and that’s where LICK comes into play. The masked producer adds his dark and bass-filled sounds to cast an intense yet vibey layer over the ethereal sounds of ‘Angel Voices’ in his latest remix. LICK is able to stay true to the original essence of the track while adding rumbling basses and gritty synths in an epic rework. Check it out below.
