Today, we are delighted to premiere Toronto-based producer IKYGUY‘s latest track titled ‘Passing of Youth II’. Although absent of vocals, the endearing track is emotional, meaningful, and carries a strong message.
“The inspiration behind POY II comes from my own struggles on what it really means to grow up. It’s something that I think about constantly and I see a lot of people struggling with as well. We’re taught that giving up on our dreams is equal to growing up. We spend our lives chasing other people’s dreams & neglect our own. This is the passing of youth. We lose our child-like sense of curiosity and imagination while trying to fit in with the grown ups. This track is the second version of a previous track I wrote for a 24-hour charity compilation. This track expands on a lot of different elements I wanted to cover in version 1.”
In a roller coaster of a journey, IKYGUY balances melodic undertones with gritty fills that perfectly compliment each other. A change in pace in the second half continues to add to the beauty of ‘Passing of Youth II,’ where the talented producer’s innate ability to manipulate sounds is on full display. Don’t get too comfortable, though, as the track will also please bass music fans with its contorted, warping synths and raw energy. IKYGUY states “there definitely was a challenge making the drops heavy but not too heavy that they overpower the rest of the song,” but the final product is a flawless balance of beauty and bass.
