WHIPPED CREAM Refuses To Conform To Genres In ‘LUV’

by Steph Contant

You think you know my sound? Think again.” These are the powerful yet accurate words from WHIPPED CREAM about her latest track titled ‘LUV.’ The Vancouver-based artist has drawn influence from hip-hop and dark bass music to carve her own lane in a saturated music industry. Continuously pushing her productions forward, this year has seen the talented artist get the recognition she deserves from producers and fans across the community, and for good reason. Following up on her heavily distorted but still elegant tracks ‘BLOOD‘ and ‘Bad For Me’, WHIPPED CREAM has returned with one last masterpiece before the year’s end, and it is arguably her best work to date.

Released as a 1:48 track on Spotify and YouTube but extended to over three minutes for SoundCloud, ‘LUV’ might just be the source of inspiration for all up-and-coming producers in 2019. Opening with an extraterrestrial pluck peppered with snappy vocal samples, WHIPPED CREAM hastily changes the pace of the track to an old-school hip-hop beat with an emphasis on punchy percussion, while still keeping an eerie atmosphere. A brief pause in energy is met by an explosion of chaotic basses and tribal drums that sound both unorganized and cohesive at the same time. Every element of the track is meticulously designed to evoke a new emotion in listeners, and WHIPPED CREAM is somehow able to awaken a sense of security before unleashing a furious barrage of bass in such a short time span.

A highly calculated work, ‘LUV’ is the result of a creative genius who refuses to confine herself to a certain genre or style. Don’t miss it below.
