PREMIERE: Kumo Collective Kicks Off 2019 With ‘Same Old Clothes’

by Alessio Anesi

In its first year of life, Kumo Collective has done well. It has brilliantly survived the fierce competition that reigns on the wild web and elbowing with algorithms and competitors, it has gained a front row spot in the future/chill underworld. The echos of their first official compilation have recently pushed them to the goal of two thousand followers and, today, we proudly premiere their opening single for 2019.

This all-Italian collaboration between erre and marrel arrives in the middle of winter but already smells of spring, clear blue skies, the first barbecues of the season under a lukewarm sun. It’s the kind of music to put on rotation while sitting out at noon, pale and lost in thoughts or while cruising the Mediterranean seaboard, comfortably sit on the leather seats of a vintage Cinquecento.

‘Same Old Clothes’ arises from the ashes of the future bass sound, formatted with a lo-fi filter. It’s not a scoop that these two genres are widely criticized for allegedly being basic, but here erre and marrel have been very careful in creating a plain and tidy mix which immediately puts the listeners at ease but without boring them after just the first listen.

With a strong brand, a tireless boss and an impressive set of releases ready for the next months, Kumo is not only cementing its name among the new generation of web labels, but it is hungrily aiming for a long, successful ride. As we often say, save the name!
