PREMIERE: Craze Proves Why He’s a Legend With ‘KOS’ EP

by Colin

Craze has been pushing the beat scene since its inception. We had the pleasure of premiering his ‘BEATS V3’  mix a few months back and his latest EP KOS builds off the energy and sounds contained in the mix. “When I thought of what I was going to do for my next EP all I wanted was some fresh new vibes …. I wanted to make a Beats EP and ‘KOS’ was the first one that happened. I was going through some samples and ‘Knowledge Of Self’ was the first one to stick. I really didn’t think of the importance of the sample at first cause it just sounded dope, but with everything I create, I think if my heart is in it, creation (the universe, god…whatever you wanna call it) gives me something special. Now that I look at the project it makes sense. Knowledge Of Self is everything to me. Knowing who you are as an individual is key to life.” Craze tells us.

The 5 track offering takes listeners into the future with out of this world soundscapes. The title track opens things commanding your attention with brass, before exploding and dropping you into an electronic jungle. Trees are replaced with towering computer components and live electricity sputters off loose wires in the wind. ‘Humans Are Stupid’ with Shield is an instant standout that sounds like it was created by our AI overlords a hundred years in the future. The comedic pro robot vocal samples are the perfect touch to a track that’s a digital destroyer. The bass on this will bowl you over, while the icy synths send chills down your spine. Jon1st joins Craze on ‘Dead’ a track that lives up to its name with a killer deep bass sound and rough samples. Balatron comes through for ‘Word Up,’ a heavy heater that’ll get you buck. The project’s finale ‘Nicoya’ brings us back to earth with tribal undertones conjuring feelings of a sunrise in a desolate but beautiful village.

The feature list is on this project is fresh and diverse so we had to ask Craze how they came together. “For this project I just wanted to collab with my homies in the Beats scene that I fux with. Shield is the don of this shit. Jon1st is my tablist buddy in this scene and Balatron is the homie,” says Craze.

KOS is another example that the legendary DJ and producer is always evolving, keeping up with the future of music and working to help push new sounds forth. Stream KOS below and grab it here.
