TVBOO’s ‘Repercussions’ EP is a Freeform Masterpiece

by A. Samuel Lewis

2018 provided an outstanding opportunity for Mississippi-native TVBOO to build a foundation for a promising career producing the most peculiar variety of bass music west of the Adirondacks. Kicking things off with a collab premiere with sfam ‘dahshigo’, ‘Littering & Smoking’, ‘Ruckus’ and capping off the year with a full interview and guest mix; it goes without saying that the Jackson local has distinguished himself as a favorite among the FUXWITHIT Fam.

With an index of standalone releases and collabs that rivals the sheer firepower of a Civil War arms depot, the anticipation of the first complete project from TVBOO has grown nearly unbearable. At long last, the curtain is drawn, revealing a dynamic three-course meal titled Repercussions.

Much like hitting Olive Garden and gorging yourself on the bottomless breadsticks, the appetizer of the feast, ‘Limitations’ hits heavy on the stomach as soon as it touches the fork. A grungy, whomping synth masks the subtle flavor of a delicate piano melody as a pulsating riser liberates a wave of reverberating frequencies. Unsuspecting of the peril at hand, you look up mid-mouthful as the waitress rounds the corner bearing the next harvest.

Upbeat percussion kick into full swing as the table is set with the main course, a draft through the restaurant whirrs feverishly in the background as a metallic clicking builds a final shred of anticipation in ‘Hallucinations‘. Without warning, the entire table begins devouring any morsel in sight, commencing a frenzy between knife, fork, and plate that creates a racket of industrial proportions.

Frantic from the chaos of the entree, a broken-down percussion heightens the anxiety of the entire table as the trolley of sweets halts just within reach. As the lid from the tray tilts back slowly a sensational high-energy aroma wafts across the table, enchanting each diner with a wonky build reminiscent of an early 2000s dubstep intro. A precisely timed vocal lead catapults the track into a sea of cascading frequencies and grimy, high-pitch fills. ‘Hottah‘ is certain to have the whole dinner party sweating profusely.

With suspense higher than ever before for the first EP from talented Mississippi producer, Repercussions satisfies all cravings for unconventional, appetizing freeform bass. Be sure to check out the full project as well as some hard-hitting solo releases from TVBOO’s profile.
