When word came out of a Valentino Khan and Kayzo collaboration, electronic music fans quickly began speculating about what such an intriguing combination of sounds would resemble. After all, it was difficult to imagine exactly how the infectious Valentino Khan sound and the hard bass of Kayzo would come together. Bass music fans are in for a treat with their newest track titled ‘Novocaine,’ as it is an eclectic medley of loud synths and banging percussion, blurring the lines between and dance floor shaker and a headbang heater.
‘Novocaine’ should come with a warning label, as it is not for the faint of heart (or hearing). Prepare for an assault to the senses from the start of the track, which begins with intense hardstyle-influenced percussion. Valentino Khan and Kayzo use this as a warm up to deliver jarring, distorted synths and a heavy dose of bass, melding elements of trap and drum & bass to make ‘Novocaine’ a hybrid of modern bass music.
The track, which is out on Diplo’s Mad Decent record label, follows a huge announcement from Valentino Khan: he will be playing his biggest live show to date at the Hollywood Palladium on March 9th, joining the ranks of legendary artists who have graced the iconic venue’s decks before him.
