We recently caught up with New Orleans-based duo sfam, where they promised fans a ton of new music in 2019, before teasing a plethora of unreleased tracks in the accompanying guest mix. Although 2018 was surely a breakout year for the promising producers, this guest mix proved to everyone that these guys are the real deal and that this year will be bigger and better than the last. Staying true to their word, sfam have blessed us with a new heater today titled ‘ductile’.
The aptly-named track is a perfect representation of the duo as musicians, showcasing the sound they’ve quickly mastered while continuously pushing new boundaries and exploring new sonic realms. A brief yet heavily reverberated introduction transports listeners to another world, setting the stage for the impending madness. A quick transition brings about a barrage of bass and percussion, so minutely tuned that each sound itself is chaotic but together forms a wildly entertaining listening experience. Guttural synths and clicking plucks are but a few of the jarring sounds being heard throughout, creating a puzzling sense of imagination for the entirety of the track. Blurring the lines between trap and bass is what sfam continue to do so well, and ‘ductile’ is no exception to this statement. Don’t miss it below.
