Waterfalls, beautiful wonders of nature. So majestic and candid from a distance, so disrupted, tricky and dangerous upon on a closer look. Woe betide if you approach them without being careful. They’re like sirens. They mislead visitors with their hypnotic song, and then overcome them with brute force, blast after blast, drop after drop.
Belgian producer Bouhi knows this hocus pocus. His brand new single plays the same game. ‘Collarbones’ kicks off with an alluring atmosphere that, with its exotic echoes, immediately seduces and charms. Immersed in this lush imagery, the desire to let us go and embrace the mystic vibe is impelling and inevitably we end up digging into it. Once this happens, the trap snaps. You’ve gone too close to the waterfall and a blend of slashing synths smash you. There’s no way to escape the drop. The air is saturated, pressure is insurmountable, even oxygen can’t find a way through this gitchy, monolithic soundwall.
‘Collarbones’ is out now via Belgium-based Crown Collective.
