PREMIERE: L*o*J & FLY Destroy False Hope In Enchanting ‘Mojave Mirage’

by Steph Contant

Under a baking sun, a weary traveler trudges across a seemingly never-ending expanse of desert. Looking up, he suddenly spots something in the distance: a sparkling lake. He rubs his eyes. It’s still there. Picking up the pace in glee he strides ahead… only for the water to melt into thin air.

Although prominent in nature, the awe-inspiring phenomenon of a mirage can also be depicted within a work of art, just as L*o*J and FLY have done with their newest track that we are stoked to premiere titled ‘Mojave Mirage’. Having both released wonky tracks on budding collectives such as Below The Surface and Phuture Collective, it was only a matter of time until these two teamed up to deliver a mind-melting original. “We met through mutual friend Miguel (Holly) and got a chance to work in the studio while they were still in the U.S. Looking forward to linking again in the summer when they come back to California for festival season,” FLY states about how he and L*o*J linked up.

Just as with the natural occurrence, L*o*J and FLY kick off the track by breeding a sense of hope within listeners through a gradual increase in energy and a unconquerable rise in euphoria. A brief pause is met with a realization that not everything is as it appears to be, before the skilled producers unleash complex basses and minutely-tuned percussion to catapult the anticipation of salvation into the abyss. Contrasting the false hope created in the introduction and the bridge, L*o*J and FLY will bring you into another dimension of enchantment beyond the simplicity of a mirage with their intricately produced ‘Mojave Mirage’. Don’t miss it below.
