PREMIERE: jordnmoody Unveils Bass-Monstrosity ‘nvr//slp’

by Alex Bell

When an artist controls every aspect of their production, the finished product is a direct reflection of themselves, giving the listener a true glimpse into the soul of the creator. This mirroring of the emotions and persona forged into a musical piece is the connection that listeners make with all the artists that move them emotionally, spiritually, and physically. jordnmoody is all about expression, and his latest release ‘nvr//slp’ shows off his truly powerful side. Feeling confined in the early stages of his musical career, he tells us it “was hard for me to fully express myself artistically with other people”. Thus, electronic music became a godsend for an artist striving for individuality.

Starting off his journey working with various bands, he added electronic elements to their live performances. He also worked with many rappers, showcasing a wide-range of experience under his belt. But, only being able to add his own perspective to a pool of others’ left him feeling unfulfilled, noting that,“once I discovered Ableton, and realized you could create fully produced songs simply on a laptop, was when I really got into production full force.” His mission is simple; “to create dope art and nothing else,” a trait he also sees and admires in Team Supreme. Armed with full control of his pieces, he continues to expand upon, tighten, and polish his designs, with ‘nvr//slp’ being his latest bullet in the chamber for his listeners’ ever-anxiously waiting ears.

‘nvr//slp’ is a deep dive into the world of bass, with earth-shaking low-end that will put to test even the most battle-hardened subwoofers, and mountains of attitude. When asked what he was aiming for when he molded it, jordnmoody explained he “wanted to make something high energy & abrasive. Something with minimal buildups/dropouts & maximum aggression”. “High energy” and “maximum aggression” are perfect descriptors, as this piece feels like a roller-coaster ride into the depths of hell, in the best way possible. The introduction is quick and to the point, as is the build up into the 2nd half of the song, which allows for the more powerful elements to take over. The build up in the latter half of the song sends the audience into a frenzy before blowing them away.

jordnmoody’s golden rule to production is “to keep it forward thinking, adding “It’s no fun for me following someone else’s formula.” With a truly unique sound, 2019 seems to already be off to a hot start for him, and listeners will be on the edge of their seats waiting for what’s next.
