PREMIERE: Dabow Brings The Bangers On ‘CREAMA’ EP

by Colin

There are few producers out right now delivering the level of heat we’ve seen from Dabow. The Argentinean producer has been slaying the game, unleashing originals at breakneck frequency, landing an official remix for RL Grime and delivering one of the most impressive Guest Mixes we’ve ever had. Adding to his achievements comes a brand new EP entitled CREAMA. The project was a spontaneous effort that came together in the span of a week. The 4 tracks are a result of what Dabow refers to as “explosive inspiration.”

“CREAMA is a project that I’ve been working on for almost one year now. It’s an idea for my label/company and it means “Crea” (create in spanish) “m” (music) and “a” (arts). The EP is a powerful teaser for the whole CREAMA project that is going to be the full movie,” Dabow tell us. The teaser is definitely more than enough to tie over trap lovers. Kicking things off with ‘Macumba (w/ Theos),’ the track provides a short but groovy introduction before dropping into the snapping trap magic contained throughout the project. The track somehow manages to remain smooth and gritty all at the same time. ‘Stop’ is an absolute flame-thrower of record combining sirens with booming bass and the percussion mastery that makes Dabow’s work so special.

The back half off the EP only proceeds to get more interesting. ‘Cartoon’ is dripping with nostalgia and futuristic bounce. Dabow pulls sample from 90’s era Cartoon Network classics like Tom & Jerry (his personal favourite) and positions them against dizzying synths and enough bass to rattle the place. Closing off the EP comes ‘Woo’. Take the energy and craziness of Busta Rhymes in the late 90’s, add in a healthy helping of real trap shit, some dancey grooves and a hefty pinch of the wonderfully weird and you’ve got the Mo Vibez assisted ‘Woo’.

From front to back CREAMA slaps. Dabow is a beast on the boards and CREAMA is another not-so-subtle reminder. The EP is just the beginning for what Dabow has in store for 2019, “Thinking of an album, then the label/company, US visa/tour, and a lot more!” he elaborates.
