Last week Zeds Dead released an incredible remix for Billie Ellish. The track combined her haunting aura with their signature dark and dirty dubstep sound. The track instantly took fans back to Zeds Dead’s early days and had me going through their old catalogue. Anytime I find myself drifting through classic Zeds Dead nostalgia I’m instantly pulled to put on their 2009 release ‘Journey Of A Lifetime’. The track perfectly epitomizes what made Zeds Dead so special. Opening with the iconic Pulp Fiction sample, the song then proceeds to take us on an interstellar journey guided by The All Seeing I’s ‘1st Man In Space’. As the track builds, looped Redman vocals sneak in before taking centre stage over Zed Deads signature wubs. The amalgamation of diverse samples and styles is the foundation of what makes the Toronto duo so spectacular. Nearly 10 years after its release, ‘Journey Of A Lifetime’ is still out of this world. Oh ba-baby!
