JOYRYDE Explores Trap In Disgustingly Creative ‘YUCK’

by Steph Contant

Back in the early stages of the project, JOYRYDE was averaging approximately one track per month, always keeping fans satisfied and craving more. It has been a strenuous battle for the LA-based producer, but it finally feels like we’re back to those good old days, only with more boundary-pushing productions. Following up on ‘IM GONE‘, the lead single from his upcoming album BRAVE, JOYRYDE is back with ‘YUCK’ in his most hard-hitting trap tune to date.

If ‘IM GONE’ was the intense car chase after a bank robbery and eventually getting to freedom, ‘YUCK’ is the introspective contemplation of what to do with the monstrous stacks of money. Teaming up with budding Chicago-based rapper GOLD, JOYRYDE creates a sinister soundscape that highlights the vocalist’s powerful lyrics, before catapulting the track into trap insanity. Through his distinct blaring sirens, revving engine effects and crisp gun shots, JOYRYDE keeps his signature alive but again manages to intertwine old sounds with new beats. The second drop is even more eclectic than the first, as the versatile producer plays with jungle-inspired percussion that is sure to send any crowd into a frenzy.

‘YUCK’ is capped off with a minute-long contemplative speech that appears to lead to a climax before JOYRYDE cuts the sound abruptly, which can only mean that the next track from BRAVE will only be crazier. Until then, enjoy ‘YUCK’ below.
