Troy Kete and his recently established IWI Collective are actively enrichening the bass music culture, providing an ample platform for up and coming Kiwi producers to release music and collaborate with one another. With a vision for nonconformity in mind, the latest IWI release presents an opportunity for Troy to collaborate with beat connoisseur MAYO.
“Once we laid down the basis of the track we had a chat about what we thought was missing. Troy mentioned he wanted some blend of UK grime vocals but with a kiwi twist, and I instantly thought of my good friend Ricardo ‘Spittah’. The next day, I linked up with him and it must’ve been not more than 5 minutes before we came up with the hook, which then became the title for our track ‘Substance’,” MAYO shares regarding working alongside Troy and selecting the vocals for their latest release.
‘Substance’ provides a rare opportunity for two promising styles with unique, diverse backgrounds and influences to synthesize in a brilliant manner. Check out the track below, and be sure to grab the free download of MAYO & Troy Kete’s latest here.
