PREMIERE: Opposites Clash in nøll’s ‘gold & silver’

by Steph Contant

LA-based nøll first made waves with a string of quality remixes, flipping tracks from everybody from Alicia Keys to Chance the Rapper to Zedd. While never abandoning his knack for these remixes, the trap and future bass artist has recently explored his own sound through the original the empty set EP and various other delightful singles, displaying his true inner artistry. Today, nøll continues to establish his own personal sound and style in the form of ‘gold & silver’, a new single that we are ecstatic to premiere.

As if inspired by an epic battle scene from your favourite movie, ‘gold & silver’ starts slowly and calmly, before building up to a grandiose euphoria through tribal percussion and an oriental instrumentation. “In ‘gold & silver,’ I wanted to take the listener on a sonic journey, traveling first from an ancient Chinese war anthem to the serenity of a bonsai garden” nøll tells us. “Within the unique sound design and visual artwork, there is a world that can inspire awe or strike fear. The track culminates into the dual roars of battling dragons, one gold and one silver. This dance; an interplay between bass and melody, represents that struggle,” he adds.

With the final season of Game of Thrones right around the corner, ‘gold & silver’ is the perfect soundtrack to the battle we are all anticipating between the good and evil dragons if it were set in the depths of an oriental jungle. Flawlessly building up and taking down the energy while remaining true to his theme, nøll concocts a lively anthem in his latest. Don’t miss it below.
