Toronto-based DJ duo THUGLI are criminally underrated. Both as DJs and producers. If you’ve ever witnessed one of their incredible live sets, you know what I’m talking about. Their productions present a similar level of quality and they were instrumental in the electronic evolution of trap music. Despite all this, they still remain slightly slept on, while being highly-respected by those who know. 2018 was a quiet year for THUGLI but it seems like it was well spent in the studio, prepping to make some serious noise in 2019. Last month they dropped ‘Stuck In Nirvana,’ a vibey future R&B bop with Bea Moon. While the track showed their production skills have continued to evolve, it also left early THUGLI fans craving for their grittier trap sounds. Not to worry, today THUGLI are giving those fans just what they asked for.
Returning with an official remix of ESKEI83’s ‘Make The Record Skip,’ the duo get back to the trap (and the club). Kicking off with snappy drum work and booming bass, the track quickly moves into a battle-ready chant “make the record skip.” The first drop is classic THUGLI as alarm-like synths collide with 808’s and walls of bass. And that’s just the beginning. The second half has them freaking the beat even further dropping into an uptempo breakdown that’s primed for the club.
