Stormzy Returns With ‘Vossi Bop’ In First Single Since Debut Album

by Steph Contant

Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., aka Stormzy (or Big Mike, The Problem, Stiff Chocolate, and Wicked Skengman) for short, has been relatively quiet since dropping his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer back in early 2017. In fact, in the 2+ years since its release, the grime sensation has not dropped a single, leaving fans in eager anticipation for new material. The hiatus from music and social media was not from lack of grinding, though, as the Croydon-native has been busy launching his own record label and publishing imprint, as well as playing shows across the globe.

Today, Stormzy makes his highly-awaited return in the form of ‘Vossi Bop’, a quintessential single that is sure to put many fans at ease. A mixture of the grime artist’s aggressive vocal style and softer, more lyrical works, ‘Vossi Bop’ contains everything from sharp choreography to an Idris Elba cameo.
