PREMIERE: Towers Takes Us to Space with ‘Moon Base’

by Alex Bell

In today’s music community, bringing something innovative and refreshing to the table is a requirement to catch any amount of attention in a very saturated market. Mike Maguire, or Towers, has jumped into the proverbial wrestling ring of bass producers lately, introducing his own unique blending of hard trap and majestic wubs. He cites Mr. Carmack, Thook, G Jones, Tsuruda, and more as his biggest inspirations, which are easily palpable when you meticulously attend to his sound design and structure. His remix of Peekaboo’s ‘Motion’ made listeners’ ears stand at attention, procuring him over fifteen thousand plays on SoundCloud alone. Now, he’s teamed up with New York-based More Creativity Records and us here at FUXWITHIT to bring the world ‘Moon Base’, a track guaranteed to take your mind on an intergalactic journey.

‘Moon Base’ opens with a foreboding siren and looping vocals “bring that shit” in the background, almost like aliens are beckoning Earth’s military forces with the kung-fu “get some” hand motion. The track builds to a Transformers-esque sound effect before firing its massive bass cannon of hard trap into your speaker systems. After absolutely pummeling listeners, without giving the audience a chance to breathe, the track takes an unexpected turn, exchanging the harshness and primal feel of hard trap for tight, wiggly undulations. This interstellar sonic escapade culminates in a drop so thick, ET should probably skip the phone call home and just go straight for 911.

2019 looks to be a high-octane year for Towers, as he has a remix for Just John and an original track releasing on Morflo Records, both dropping in May. As if that wasn’t enough, he also just started a collaboration with his good friend G-Space, surely to be another top-notch heater.
