Pham Makes Highly-Anticipated Return With ‘Golden State’

by Steph Contant

Back in March, we featured Pham‘s ‘Blackouts‘ in our #tbt series because he had announced an upcoming project that sent us into a rabbit hole of his old, timeless tunes. The Polish producer came up in the golden days of SoundCloud with an infectious sound that was a hit with both electronic and hip-hop fans alike. His recent hiatus built anticipation for what was to come next, before he recently tweeted that the NOSTALGIA mixtape was coming soon. Today, we get a first taste of this project, as ‘Golden State’ alongside Ben Zaidi is here to bless your ears.

In ‘Golden State’, Pham stays true to his unique sound while continuing to push the musicality behind his art to a new level. Highlighting the soothing vocals from Ben Zaidi in the foreground, Pham uses his signature flow, ambiance and percussion to create an ethereal aura that is both reminiscent of his early work and looks forward to his future vision. ‘Golden State’ isn’t a banger like ‘Movements’ or ‘Alibi’, but a ballad meant for easy listening to briefly relieve listeners of any worries they might have.

Stating that he “hates the teasing part and he’d drop everything at once” if he could, we’re certain the NOSTALGIA mixtape can’t be too far out. Until then, enjoy ‘Golden State’ and the accompanying video below!
