An alliance previously restricted to the arena of remixes, G-REX & TYNAN’s devastating treatment to Snails and Botnek’s ‘Happy Hour’ nearly three years ago first teased an inevitable collaboration, while recently liberated flips of ‘404’ and ‘Deep Down Low’ have only furthered the anticipation for the two auspicious producers to pioneer an original track.
‘Doughboi’ takes a shot to the abyss, as an expeditious build lurks feverishly in the background amid an ominous tolling of bells. A grungy, abrupt vocal loop permeates the foreground as the cadence of the track hastens, a sudden surge of bass unleashes a convulsion of low-resonating wobbles and captivating drum fills. The melody doubles back offering a momentary reprise before launching into a lethal second incursion of waning metallic synths and petulant eruptions of subs.
