skeler. Proves Powerhouse Status With ‘One Day’ And ‘Głębia’

by Alessio Anesi

Folks, bend the knee to the uplifting wave messiah! I don’t usually give away titles and epithets so easily, but anyway, here and now, it just feels right to crown skeler. Song after song, in the last couple of years he has provided us umpteenth inestimable gems, and this May’s double bill is just the ice on the cake.

Let’s start with ‘One Day,’ his first self release in four months. Although sober and relatively minimalist, the base, with its technical perfection, can be a pleasant surprise for those who are more accustomed to design finesses. However, it’s with the vocal section that skeler manages to make the breakthrough and magnetize our utter attention. After remixing trance, big room, and house classics, this time he put his magic hands on the goddess Enya. The marriage between the digital wave elements and the angelic voice buried under layers of delay and reverb is a gorgeous rhapsody.

The second one, titled ‘GLEBIA’ (abyss/profoundity in Polish) has been instead released via the Krakow based collective ‘CZELUŚĆ’ as part of their #4 compilation album. Same formula, another hit. The hypnotic voice whispers about doomed love while the instrumental part, this time able to smash on its own, makes the atmosphere electric and tense. Like when a black stormy sky unleashes thunders and lightning.
