With Skrillex finally dropping new music in the form of a fresh remix and his upcoming Dog Blood EP, and Chance The Rapper’s debut album slated for July, both artists have been top of mind. The timing has caused their 2014 collab to become top of mind for me once the again. ‘Coast Is Clear’ represents what made Recess so special; an incredible sonic experiment that transcended genres pairing Chance’s off-kilter rap style with heavy drum and bass and stunning breaks from the Social Experiment. It’s all over the place yet so beautifully flowing. The keys twinkle, Chance’s voice pulls you in like a gentle whisper in your ear and when the bass and drums hit, you can’t help but shuffle uncontrollably. Electronic music can often become stale with time, but 5 years later ‘Coast Is Clear’ is still as refreshing as a cold pint on a summer’s afternoon. Drink it in below.
