Tsuruda Turns It Up To 11 With ‘Caustic’

by Alex Bell

Thomas Tsuruda has been a mainstay in the realm of deep, hard hitting, unique bass music in recent years. The Los Angeles based artist has been producing since the modest age of 15, drawing inspiration from artists such as Madlib and Flying Lotus. Fresh off the heels from playing his first EDC where he went b2b with Great Dane, 2019 seems like a year of massive growth and exploration for the young artist. Just a mere 4 months ago he released Internet Slaps Volume 2a 20 track LP of simply epic proportions. Now, he’s debuted arguably his hardest-hitting track of the year, ‘Caustic.’

‘Caustic’ is a nonstop thrill ride as the drop only accelerates over time. The initial pre-drop vocals are “science is precise, as am I,” and one couldn’t agree more as the production is tight, polished, and immensely clean with buttery smooth switch-ups. The evolution of the song over time is highlighted by the adjustments in arrangement to create space, effectively making the song feel like it’s speeding up or slowing down while still continuing the same initial beat.

The sound design is immaculate, with each note feeling full and rounded, instead of flat and 2 dimensional. Throwing in the chopped vocals of “Turn My Shit Up” towards the end of the song will having you ripping the knob off your sound system. This is one of those songs that almost makes you laugh because of how filthy it is. Make sure to check out ‘Caustic’ for yourself below!
