PREMIERE: t1r Unveils Volatile Heater ‘rom’

by Colin

Fresh off of the beast that is ‘Godzilla,’ Auckland’s t1r returns with another massive original. ‘rom’ is a computerized trap slapper that’s been over a year in the making. “The track name ‘rom’ is based off ROM (Read Only Memory), the non-volatile memory used in computers and other electronic devices. I feel as though this track is a prefect representation of that, through its vibe and the artwork itself,” t1r tells us. Dripping with digital distortion, head-spinning samples and glitchy synths, this one will drop you into a wild digital landscape riddled with twists and turns at every step. The first half was finished last year but it wasn’t until he revisited the track that he was able to write the second. “I guess my advice on this one is, if you start a half ass beat/track, never ever throw them away, they could be transformed into gems upon rediscovery,” t1r says dropping a gem himself. With the second drop taking the track from 10 up to 11, ‘rom’ proves that good things come to those who wait.

t1r first caught our ear with a slew of incredible remixes but has consistently proven his originals stand up there with the finest producers out. When asked about which he prefers he responded saying, “Don’t get me wrong, I love producing remixes/flips, however there’s something different about producing originals, you’re able to create something from nothing and you get a lot of self fulfilment from that. However, having said all that, I have a heap of official remixes on the way.” We’ll be waiting for them. Stream ‘rom’ below.
