XaeboR’s ‘Ignition’ EP Revs on All Cylinders

by A. Samuel Lewis

Based out of San Diego, California XaeboR is a veristic exemplification of persistence, littering the battlefield with a handful of heavy artillery EPs and dozens of vicious singles over the span of a 7-year career. Discreetly tip-toeing the boundaries of the proliferating riddim movement, XaeboR’s diverse production palette and deeply-seeded dubstep roots tender him the ability to intersperse freely between a wobbly freeform cadence and a ruthless metallic flow.

A predominant crusader among the ranks of Never Say Die Records Black Label imprint, XaeboR’s Ignition EP presents a four-track dubstep crusade, which symmetrically depicts his kaleidoscopic bass equities, while further championing the scope of his craft.

Captivating synths woven with digital intricacies and laid ornately over a vibrant bassline present an alluring welcome to the title track of the project. The repetitive dulled thumping of a kick drum masks subtle hastening in cadence as the brimming energy of the percussion lets loose into a sopping wet drop of aqueous bass notes layered expertly with acute synth mixdowns.

A bereaved digital wasteland provides ample camouflage for the necrotic marrow of the EP as the ominous arhythmic introductions of ‘Go Stoopid’ and ‘Fuego’ obscure an inevitable merciless fate of bass, catalyzed with riveting metallic percussion and exceptionally maneuvered beat breaks.

Ignition culminates in an unorthodox fusion of tastes as XaeboR skillfully bridges tenors, leveraging amphibious undertones within crescent plunges of bass in the opening of ‘Frog Riddem’ before a magnetic snare roll unleashes a magnetic hybrid outburst.
