TORONTO: Three Things You Need To Know About Electric Island This Weekend

by Kevin G
Yeah, it’s technically summer this weekend.
And not just because of the solstice (which happens on the 21st, ya nerd). It’s because Electric Island is popping again, the second one in this year’s series.
Before you make plans, here are three things you need to know about this weekend’s Electric Island:

1. It’s at Woodbine Park (instead of Toronto Island).

Global warming is a thing. We’ve been having hella rain for the past few months and poor Toronto Island is halfway submerged in the damn stuff still.
So Woodbine Park – the site of the best instalment of Bestival in 2016 – is the replacement spot. It’s actually a sick location, and is accessible by car, cab, or transit.

2. It’s on a Saturday – and it’s NOT a long weekend

Historically, Electric Island events were held on the Sunday or Monday of holiday long weekends. This meant that attending the event has always been a catch-22 for cottagers and campers alike. You could do one or the other, but not both.
But now…now you don’t have to choose. NEXT weekend is a long weekend, and this weekend’s event is on a Saturday. Plus it’s Pride weekend, so… long live peace love, and hangovers!

3. It’ll be dope as usual

Who’s playing? Honestly, it doesn’t matter*. The lineup curation has a proven record of excellence, so unless you have specific tastes, the decision to go is a no-brainer. There’ll be two stages of bangin’ tunage and good vibes for days.
If you have the afternoon off on Saturday and wanna get in a big ol’ party that ends with plenty of time to sleep at night and not fuck up your week – this is the place for you to be.
*but to answer your question, Seth Troxler is closing things out but don’t miss DJ Harvey, Honey Soundsystem, and Goddollars. Plus more. Jah feel?
Tix start at $51 all-in and are available here.
See ya there xoxo
