If Yvng Jalapeño is not on your radar yet, you’re doing something wrong. The Brisbane-based artist had a massive 2018 and has kept his impressive string of releases alive throughout 2019 with ‘Cali‘ and an official remix for QUIX’s ‘Ride Or Die,’ among others. With his biggest tracks being played out by the likes of JOYRYDE and TYNAN at festivals such as EDC Las Vegas and Coachella, it’s only a matter of time until Yvng Jalapeño makes his way to North America to play his heaters at these festivals himself.
Today, the talented producer returns with a new original titled ‘Blood Money’ to give bass house a fresh new feel. When asked about this recent bass house inclination, Yvng Jalapeño states “I don’t ever want to be locked down into one genre. Lately I’ve had trouble writing trap that I’m happy with, I felt this was because I’ve only been writing trap for the better half of 4 years. Before Yvng Jalapeño I use to write deep/disco house but was never really able to nail it. It’s been cool to make the music I once attempted to create back then with the new tricks I have now. I guess my last few releases were just me trying to challenge myself.” No matter the genre, one guaranteed certainty about Yvng Jalapeño releases is their undeniable quality.
Building the track around the post-apocalyptic recordings heard in the introduction, Yvng Jalapeño uses doom-foreshadowing sirens and sombre melodies to create a catastrophic soundscape. A gradual build in energy leads the track to its climax, as the versatile artist unleashes gritty synths and a rugged bassline to conjure up mixed feelings about whether to shuffle or headbang as the drop progresses. A combination of untameable groove and downright filth, ‘Blood Money’ is yet another example of Yvng Jalapeño’s innate bass prowess. Don’t miss it below and buy it here.
