Habstrakt Reminds Us Of His Roots In ‘De La Street’

by Steph Contant

Keeping the theme of releasing tracks from the supporting acts of the Gud Vibrations shows alive, NGHTMRE and SLANDER have now added French bass virtuoso Habstrakt to their short yet stacked list of label releases. With an impressive string of singles on all of the biggest labels in the game this year including Spinnin’ Records, Musical Freedom, CONFESSION and Monstercat, his appearance on the new powerhouse Gud Vibrations comes as no surprise.

Five seconds into ‘De La Street,’ true Habstrakt fans will easily identify his signature sound, as crisp percussion and gritty analogue synths take centre stage. A groovy yet granular atmosphere is established in the first minute, before Habstrakt turns into his typical bass house mad scientist self in the drop, unleashing nothing but the crunchiest of basses and snappiest of fills. Repeat this recipe twice with added uniqueness and filth in the second half and you have the bass masterpiece that is ‘De La Street.’

As usual, Habstrakt does not disappoint. Check out his latest below.
