The tuxedo sporting Australian Producer Just A Gent has been an innovator in the dance music scene for the past half decade. Building a massive following as an independent artist, Jacob Grant has continuously blended different elements of dance music, from melodic piano riffs to pounding basslines to create a “Gent’s” take on dance music. Starting 2019 off strong with his single ‘First Contact,’ the Gent’s Monstercat debut ‘Time Voyage’ is a beautifully executed track, powered by the vocals of singer/songwriter Hauskey.
‘Time Voyage’ starts with the reveal of the primary melody, and around the twenty second mark, Just A Gent introduces an elaborate synth, which is used to play hide and seek with the melody. Around the one minute mark, the heavy synths are traded in for an uptempo drum pattern, keys and strings, and the powerful voice of Hauskey. The strings and keys are later replaced by a vibey synth melody. ‘Time Voyage’ is the breath of fresh air dance music needed. Roll the window down and throw this one on.
