As two of Oceania’s biggest names in the electronic music scene, it was only a matter of time until Alison Wonderland and QUIX came together on a track. Although the latter has remixed the former twice, ‘TIME’ is the first time these two legends work together, and expectations were high when the collaboration was announced. Not unlike her character of being open about psychedelics use, Alison Wonderland states, “I came up with the idea of making a song that stretches time whilst I was tripping. This has been one of my favourite and most fun songs to make. I hope it takes you all on a journey.” ‘TIME’ does just that.
Putting aside all expectations, ‘TIME’ begins in a luscious aural sensation, making use of spacious sounds to create a groovy, almost house-inspired elongated introduction. It’s only at the ninety-second mark that the original influence from both producers makes itself heard, with an upping in tempo and added percussive elements driving forward a futuristic sound. A repeated metallic synth shines at the forefront of the drop, never breaking the vast soundscape created in the first half of the track yet increasing its internal chaos. Brief Alison Wonderland vocals bring about an intense final drop accentuated by a hard-hitting sub to round off the track exquisitely.
