France-native Jeremy Souillart is an architect of warm vibrant soundscapes, equipped with bouncy basslines and uplifting vocal features better known by his production alias Møme. A key facet of Souillart’s initiative is to transcend the interdisciplinary boundaries that exist within art, establishing an uncanny symbolism between sound and artwork that paints a vivid picture both sonically and visually.
Tucked away in his 2016 Aloha EP, ‘Mirage’ depicts an auditory expedition through desert terrain, accompanied with the infectious melody of strings and a tactfully woven harmony of flutes as the journey toils on. Off in the distance, a lush oasis appears visibly as the pace of the journey expedites to nearly a dash, only to reveal after a brief moment of silence that it was nothing more than a figment of the imagination and validation of Møme’s talent for crafting intricate soundscapes.
