Quality Goods Records boss and trap legend UZ is back with bang! A ‘Bang, Bang’ to be more precise. His latest release draws from his signature, less is more dynamic, while alluding to a slight evolution in sound. A delicate and alluring introduction opens up with icy synths that’ll send a chill down your spine. The vocals sample that commands the track’s namesake hits like a brick and elevates the intensity. Flexing his turntablist background, UZ scratches the gritty vocals, “gold chain swinging like a baseball bat, bang bang you flat.” Halfway in and you’re assured be enamoured, but UZ is still just warming up. Saving the best for last, the masterful producer unveils a sinister finale that flirts with experimental bass while still keeping us in the trap.
The release of ‘Bang Bang’ is coupled with the announcement of UZ’s third album. He caught up with Billboard to give some insight into what to expect from the project, “This third album will certainly have its energetic ‘bangers, but it also will show another side of myself, which is songs, songwriting with rappers and vocalists, and showcasing my love for beat driven productions. ‘Bang Bang’ is the pathway between the bangers and the beats.”
