PREMIERE: So Sus Gives hs.’ ‘Over It’ A Banging Trap Overhaul

by Steph Contant

Some of the best electronic remixes are crafted from tracks that fall way outside the wide umbrella of a genre, or fall within the grey area between electronic and pop, hip-hop or indie. The reason for this is that artists are given so much freedom to re-envision these tracks without being influenced by the original too much, allowing them to roam free with their ideas. Case in point is So Sus‘ newest remix for hs.‘ delightful original ‘Over It’ that we are ecstatic to premiere today.

Originally released on Bonfire Records back in March, ‘Over It’ is a soothing, minimalist track that uses moving, poignant vocals layered above an acoustic background before added percussion and effects give the track a quintessential lo-fi feel. In his remix, So Sus keeps these captivating vocals in the introduction but adds intricate elements that hint at the real electronic nature of the flip. As the climax hits at the fifty-five-second mark, So Sus’ true talents as a beat-maker shine through, with crisp production rampant throughout the drop. The clash between the hard-hitting trap synths and the underlying acoustics is extremely welcome, as it provides the remix with a depth not usually found in these types of tracks. With added euphoria and sophistication in the second drop, it’s evident that So Sus only keeps improving with every new release.
