With his recent inclinations towards house, it almost comes as no surprise to see Diplo launch yet another imprint, this time with a focus on the ever-growing genre. The first release on Higher Ground comes from Brooklyn-based Walker & Royce in a two-track piece titled Rave Grave that is sure to have listeners dancing until all hours of the night.
The project’s title track features VNSSA and is a classic house jam that has lyrics that’ll be stuck in your head until the moment you leave the club. A solid four-to-the-floor foundation is accentuated by catchy fills, effects and percussives that are never too overpowering yet still give the track a hefty punch. The second track titled ‘The Biznes’ is a piece that has been setting the mood in Walker & Royce’s sets since Coachella, and has a similar feel to ‘Rave Grave’ but includes a more acidic, old school essence. Altogether, the two tracks and their respective extended versions serve as a welcome introduction to Higher Ground and are sure to tear up club dancefloors for months to come.
