2019 has already been a fantastic year for Italian dubstep duo Tiigers, with the release of their Alpha EP and their massive collaboration with Sharps released on Never Say Die Records appropriately named ‘Colossal.’ Taking the European dubstep market by storm has been the name of the game, and have they ever made a monsoon with their most recent release.
‘Till Dawn’ opens with a very quiet, tranquil melody over the sound of rain falling onto a surface, which normally would elicit a calming effect in the listener, but with the addition of perfectly placed thunder in the distance it instead creates this feeling of impending doom. The build has this ominous noise that I can only compare to ripping paper with the utmost aggression and adding a large heaping of evil over the top. This is more rounded in sound in the drop itself, which is one of the most unique dubstep drops I’ve heard in a long time, with intensely clean production that slaps more than it rumbles. The latter drop adds in an air of mystery via the inclusion of a melody that sounds reminiscent of tribal chanting, giving it this Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom type feel. The whole package shows a straight shot towards forward-thinking sound and a hearty attempt at pushing the audible envelope, a feat most definitely accomplished in this case.
With sound like this, Tiigers will be a duo to keep your eyes on for the foreseeable future. Check out ‘Till Dawn’ for yourself below!
