20 year old Michael Connors has been a busy man in recent years, curating inordinate amounts of grime both with his label The Missing Links and his own production persona Cancel. Now, he’s teamed up with fresh Slovenian talent NVADRZ to bring dubstep connoisseurs a slapper of a track so lit professional sports teams should use it as locker room hype music.
Just like the first sip of coffee in the morning, this song will make your pulse quicken faster than Usain Bolt on the track. The initial introduction to the kicks in this song will have your speakers clapping harder than a wind-up cymbal playing monkey, your first inkling that shit is most definitely about to get real. The first drop hits deep, reminiscent of when you dive into a pool and your head is first fully submerged under water, starting out with extended notes that have a full-bodied texture. The latter part of the drop descends straight into madness, halving the length of the other notes and adding accents that create this ping-pong effect.
The build up to the last drop is appropriately menacing, any doubt left that you’re going to make it to the end of this brutal masterpiece completely shattered. Be wary of rinsing this track in the gym, as the 2nd drop has attained peak stank-face inducing ability. An almost sure guarantee of involuntary mouthings of “oh my god” or “wtf”, this song is an auditory injection straight to your adrenal glands. The last drop is aided by an AOL “got mail” noise fill, right before it smothers you with filth once again.
Both Cancel and NVADRZ have had arguably some of the most forward-thinking dubstep sounds in 2019, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Keep your eyes peeled for what they have on the horizon, and check out ‘In the Game’ for yourself below!
