PREMIERE: TWERL Fixates Attention with QGR Debut ‘Follow Me’

by A. Samuel Lewis

One of the first prodigious musical talents to capitalize on the freedom and limitless potential that SoundCloud has to offer, Jayden Healey has become a bit of an icon in the underground electronic music scene. Producing and performing a sensational variety of synth-woven originals and thoughtfully accoutred remixes under his alias TWERL has allowed the talented Australian-native to maintain a remarkable sense of progression and originality over the course of a prevailing 5-year career.

Making his debut appearance with Quality Goods Records, ‘Follow Me’ beautifully exemplifies the dexterity and complexity of Healey’s craft, vividly delineating an ability to compose contrasting elements to create a gripping sense of disparity and raw emotion within a single track. A pixelated vocal sample and feathery, reverberant flutes create an immediate impression of appetency, catalyzing a precise symphony of snares that build a distinct contrast in tempo within the track. Re-introducing a distorted rendition of the vocals, Healey flips the script entirely, diving head-first into a pungent metallic lead before unleashing a torrent of quivering bass.
