Heimanu Continues To Defy Genres With ‘Back in Time’

by Steph Contant

Showcasing an innate production prowess through tracks such as ‘Leave You,’ ‘Time Worth‘ and wildly creative tributes of soon-to-be classics, Heimanu has quickly flourished into a highly respected artist within the underground electronic music scene, and is bound to explode at any moment. Constantly blurring the lines between genres yet always driven with emotion, Heimanu’s originals and remixes ceaselessly pack a full punch that is sure to make any crowd erupt into euphoria.

Continuing along these lines, Heimanu returns with ‘Back in Time’ to show that off-kilter bass music can still go hard. The introduction presents a growing, impenetrable tension that is so common to Heimanu’s style, building anticipation for what follows. As robotic samples and vocal chops are added into the mix, the track grows to its apex before the Sydney-based artist catapults the track into a high-octane bass heater. Repeated kicks mimic your heartbeat while gnarly bass drives the energy forward. A change in percussion brings about a trap-like section that shows Heimanu’s ability to obscure genres as he has done so often in the past.

The conclusion of ‘Back in Time’ features an elongated, ethereal outro that is met with a brief yet punchy section to keep you hooked until the very end. Don’t miss it below.
