PREMIERE: Decimate Unleashes Mayhem In ‘Spooky Legs’

by Steph Contant

It didn’t take long for Decimate to take the unfortunate news of a split and swing it into a positive with the announcement of the Decimation Station EP coming Monday on Never Say Die: Black Label. With his first complete work since the Neck Brace EP from earlier this year, Decimate pushed himself musically and sonically to deliver a beast of a project.

My goals for this entire EP was to try and test my skills and create some sounds that were different to me. Over this last year, I really tried to step out of my comfort zone with production and this EP is a result of that. Only one track (Booty Bass) really pays a homage to my aggressive sound that you all are used to. The rest were me trying to create something you’ve never heard before,” Decimate states about the vision behind Decimation Station.

In anticipation of the full release, we are ecstatic to premiere ‘Spooky Legs’ today. Aggressive yet bouncy, the track is a relentless dosage of quality Decimate sound design. A brief, looming introduction rapidly evolves into a percussive build-up before ‘Spooky Legs’ is flipped on its head with booming bass. Repeated serrated stabs and minutely timed fills drive the energy of the drop, before additional screeches really push the heaviness forward. Quirky changes in the arrangement of the second drop make ‘Spooky Legs’ a truly well-rounded heater. Don’t miss it below and stay tuned for the full Decimation Station EP!
