Although first advertised as a mix series of unreleased gems that would never see the light of day, Space Laces has gifted fans with one of the most impressive tracks from Vaultage 002. In a surprise release on Never Say Die, the production wizard has unleashed the brain-melting, trap-leaning ‘D.A.W’ that has many producers wanting to pack up their bags and calling it a day. Futuristic lasers set the stage for the digital torment that follows, as loud punches of bass are added to send your mind on a spaceship to an extraterrestrial land. ‘D.A.W’ boasts a flow unlike anything we’ve ever heard, further establishing Space Laces as one of the kings of sound design.
Instead of packing it up, South African producer Jon Casey drew immediate inspiration from the uniqueness of ‘D.A.W’ and flipped it on its head in an unofficial bootleg. Keeping the surrealistic essence of the introduction intact, Jon Casey makes himself heard at the twenty five-second mark through gnarly crunches of pounding synths, using his bass background to turn ‘D.A.W’ into a true dancefloor killer. With a second drop that is sure to send listeners into a frenzy, Jon Casey continues to rise as one of the most promising artists in the bass scene. We couldn’t pick a favourite, so we highly recommend you check out both versions of ‘D.A.W.’
