No introduction is necessary for Sydney trap and bass production maestro Hydraulix. Setting 2019 into motion with a collaboration alongside coveted bass predecessor Moody Good was only the first of many stones that the talented Australian-native would cast over the course of the year, culminating with the release of two successive EPs via Never Say Die and Wakaan Records.
While the Crown Jewel and Space Cadet EPs clearly delineate a level of creativity and production capability that have allowed Hydraulix to work interchangeably between a heavier dubstep guise and a more free-flowing bass cadence, it left a sense of longing for the impeccable sound design and clean-cut trap breaks featured in early tracks such as ‘Head Bang’ and ‘Jam Dizzle.’
Here to satiate your innermost trap desires, ‘Ghostface’ with Swrvo comes out firing on all nostalgic cylinders. A frenzied digital ringing like the echoing of a deranged phone receiver quickly dilates into a momentous build as Hydraulix tactfully laces samples from the infamous 2002 horror flick The Ring before dropping cleanly into a sea of pounding bass notes and resonating metallic synths.
