Since its inception, Craze and Four Color Zack’s 2¢ project has been all about fucking up the status quo. Whether that’s raising the bar around what DJ sets and mixes should sound like, hating on lame producers and meaningless industry lists, or disrespecting the clown of a President currently in office, the duo never fail to challenge listeners.
Their latest release keeps that same energy. Aptly titled ‘Rebel,’ this one is half banger, half call to action. Opening with looped underground rap vocals that envelope into “the jig is up, you can rebel, if you big enough,” this one doesn’t hold back. Splicing in “you can rebel,” and “too many of us are frustrated” makes this an anthem primed for the times. Add in some hard-hitting trap drops and the track further exemplifies their ability to drive home a point while still keeping things bumping. The break strips back the energy and replaces it with a powerful speech against mediocrity and ignorance. The beat builds perfectly in time with the pace of the speech before the familiar vocal sample and fierce trap energy return to incite a riot for the finale. Bump this anthem and ‘Rebel’ against the mediocre.
