There is no denying that LA-based yojas and Auckland-based t1r are among the leaders in the experimental bass and underground trap scenes as of late. Despite residing miles away from one another, this distance did not prevent them from acknowledging each other’s greatness, with t1r stating “I first heard of yojas through SoundCloud about a year ago and instantly became a fan of his work,” which eventually led us to where we are today, premiering their epic collaboration titled ‘yoyo.’ Adding to the recognition of their respective talents, yojas told us, “After a year or two of many yojas releases, I was happy to see t1r had finally noticed me and dug what I was making. ‘yoyo’ came together a lot quicker than many other collabs I had been working on at the time. We have similar styles which made the process of creating the track simple and fun.”
Although their sounds share innate similarities, listeners are cautioned to approach ‘yoyo’ with no expectations, as both have tackled this track with an out-of-the-box mentality. “I think we had no real expectations or goal set out when creating this track. We just had full trust in each other given our similarities in our sound and production style, and with a bit of experimentation and a culmination of our styles this is the end product we’ve come up with,” t1r continues.
Their latest work is an eerie, experimental banger that catches you off-guard from the get-go with its high introductory intensity. As the track builds, additional synths and effects are layered to give ‘yoyo’ a colossal, doom-impending aura. Briefly coming back to the introductory essence in a bridge, the ‘yoyo’ quickly drops again harder than before, as yojas and t1r deliver a heavy-hitting trap section, forever flexing their innovative production talents. Don’t miss ‘yoyo’ below.
